Team Biography

Southbrook Pirates u13’s play in Southampton Tyro Division 2. We achieved a very respectable 3rd place last season in our first taste of competitive league football. 

 

The boys really are a great bunch, and form the team from a combination of schools in and around the area. We welcomed 6 new players into the camp for this coming season taking our roster to 16 boys who are ready to tackle their first season at 11-a-side. We are supported by a keen and passionate group of parents, who are no doubt excited about what the new season will bring! #Piratesmassive

 

The coaching team is made up of 3 passionate football people:

 

Manager - Steve Eyles

Steve has Managed Pirates ever since under 7’s. He holds a Level 1 qualification, and is currently studying his UEFA C, hoping to complete before the end of 2023. Coaching is a real passion for Steve, and helping the boys become better players and people in a positive environment is what Pirates is all about. 

 

Assistant Manager - Ken Haynes

Ken has managed or coached a number of Southbrook teams over the years. Ken’s passion for grassroots football is epitomised on Saturday mornings when he coaches Southbrook’s Stars Academy. The 23-24 season will be Ken’s first full season with Pirates and we are lucky to have his experience on board. 

 

Coach - Andy Kater

Andy is as passionate about Pirates as he is his beloved West Ham Utd. We didn’t see him for a few days after their recent Europa Conference League success! Andy’s a student of the game and is a valuable part of the coaching team, always willing to share his views and insights.

Mental Health Support Officer

As of the 2023/24 season, the committee have introduced a Mental Health Support Team, with each club having their own Support Officer to be the port of call for anyone suffering with mental health. 

The volunteer for Pirates is Kelly Cox & Joanne Poole.
